Understanding Overseas Qualifications

Day 2 – SSVF and GTE

The Student visa framework underwent a radical overhaul on July 2016 when the Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) was introduced.

  • This reduced the number of Student visa subclasses from eight to two
  • It introduced a risk framework premised on both provider risk and country risk
  • It maintained the fundamental premise that a student must meet GTE (genuine temporary entrant) criteria.

These changes and the whole new SSVF and GTE framework can be very confusing.

This seminar will cover the following comprehensively:

  • The new Subclass 500 Student visa
  • The new Student Guardian visa
  • An in-depth analysis of the risk framework underpinning the SSVF model
  • Implications for institutions
  • An exploration of GTE (genuine temporary entrant) issues and questions to ask to identify if an applicant meets GTE criteria
  • Post-study visa options for students
