Understanding Overseas Qualifications

Day 2 – CAMBODIA and BHUTAN

These are both small markets but are increasingly coming under the radar in terms of applications from these growing markets.

Cambodia’s education system suffered unspeakable setbacks in the 1970’s under the Khmer Rouge, after which the education system had to be rebuilt from scratch.  The effects of this setback can still be felt today, but Cambodia is developing in leaps and bounds.  The country is definitely an area of interest for Australian universities in terms of a source market and, as a result of a number of enquiries regarding its education system, we have decided to include it.

The education system in Bhutan is based on the unique notion of Gross National Happiness, which instils in pupils and students a sense of belonging and respect for the culture and traditions of their country.  The government is also on a quest to expand and modernise its education system. As a small but constant and growing market in Australian admissions offices, its education system is worth putting under the spotlight.

This seminar will cover the following comprehensively for each country:

  • Detailed information on the education system in general
  • School-leaving qualifications
  • Post-secondary options and available qualifications
  • Types of higher education institutions
  • Undergraduate and graduate qualifications – types, structure and characteristics of Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees
